Who are we?
{dev.talk} is a free, community-driven meetup for software engineers and related disciplines in the south of the UK.
The meetup was founded by Mark Oliver in 2024. He saw that Bournemouth was lacking a software engineering based meetup despite being a Tech Hub on the South Coast of the UK, and as Wilton Knight once said "one person can make a difference", so Mark decided to create the meetup, and the community around it.
To stay focused on community commitment, {dev.talk} does not have sponsors. We do, however, have valued supporters who help with key practical needs such as venues and videography so we can keep events free and community-led.
Today, {dev.talk} continues to run because of the efforts of Mark and community volunteers who give their time to support speakers, film events, and help each meetup run smoothly.
